Matthew Hello Jim!
Thanks for the question. So, you've said you would like to control 6 devices in your A/V cabinet, and a Samsung TV across the room. You plan to use port 3 on the iTach WF2IR to control the TV on the other side of the room, which is fine. The main question is, how do you control the 6 devices in the cabinet with the 2 remaining ports on the iTach.
Unfortunately, you cannot daisy-chain emitters. At best you can split 2 emitters in parallel off one IR port, but this can sometimes be problematic if the pair of emitters is not well-balanced, due to the electrical behavior of diodes. Some people opt to use the Blaster port to flood their cabinet with IR, but you've said you intend to use the Blaster port for the distant TV, so that may not be viable for your setup.
So, you have several options here. You could use an IR distribution block to gain additional outputs. A variety of these are available from 3rd parties, and a web search should yield a selection of results. Or, you could acquire at least one more WF2IR unit, and between the Blaster port and the remaining 4 single-emitter ports, you'd be able to cover the remaining 6 devices.
Then, the remaining step is simply to setup the WF2IR device(s) in iRule, and then add your controlled devices. The guides on iRule's site should be of help in that process.
Reply here and let us know how it goes.
Thank you!
