I have to sense the stat of a set top box in order to program discrete power buttons, wil this work?

Josh Sherman Yes, it will work, but you will need to cross the ring and tip lines with a custom audio cable for the sensor to work properly with an iTach unit. Ground must be contiguous, but the other two lines must be swapped for proper sensor functionality.
