iTach IR out spec

Hello,

I'd like to plug my itach directly to my dvd player, without using an emitter.

I found the spec of my dvd player (stereo jack, 5v at the tip, signal at the ring and ground at the sleeve). The iTach have mono jack, so I guess there is no 5v.

Now two things, first what is the output of the mono jack? (signal at the tip and ground at the sleeve or reverse?)

I just need the actual electrical specification, so I'm sure I can avoid frying the iTach or the dvd player.

Of course the signal will have to be compatible, I guess it will, but it might not.

  iTach connectors use the tip for signal, and the base for ground. In order to get a safe connection, you will want to splice up a wire that will be safe to connect to our unit. The wire you will need to use is going to go from base (iTach side) to base (Oppo side), from tip (iTach side) to ring (Oppo side) and leave the tip line from the Oppo side open since you do not want to route any power into the iTach IR output. As long as you make sure that the 5V tip does not go into our unit there should be no danger of any damage to any of your hardware. Let us know if you have any luck.

  I think an xantech 28ext would work as well.  I'm using one for a fios dvr.  I just didn't want to breakout the tools.  Lazy I know but it works.

  I built a stereo to mono jack, omitting the tip on the stereo side, and it works like a charm!
