Changed router - now wifi2ir does not connect to the router/ network

I replaced my home router with a new one from the same telecoms company - Rogers- and I can no longer get the wifi2ir to connect to the network.  I went through the setup process again - reset the unit, connected to its adhoc network, entered my new details and at the end it resets but the power light stays on permanently - it does not flash to indicate it is connected. I have redone this 20 times but still no luck. If I don't get this working, it will be going straight in the garbage.  I am sick to the teeth of IT equipment that needs a Masters degree just to switch on.

Why the heel is this thing not connecting??  The router isan upgraded version of the same unit.
