I have an older Sony receiver which refuses to accept signals from an emitter. If I plug a blaster into the same port (a non-blaster port) and position it about two feet away from the front of the Sony, it works fine.
Anyone seen this before? And is there any problem using a blaster on port 1? And where can I buy another blaster?
Technically, while you can use a blaster on a different connector, it was designed for more amperage to fire longer distance. For situations where our emitters do not get signal properly to the device you are trying to control, you will want to go for non-blinking emitters (the IR Blaster is a non-blinking diode, which increases output strength). Well, its good to hear that you have this working at least. It sounds as though there may be some blind/weak spots in the receiver you may be butting your head into that you could do some testing around, but if you have it up and running you may just want to leave it.
