Hi,

I just purchased an IP2IR box and I am having issues with the iLearn software.

Setup: HP laptop w/ ethernet cable directly connected to IP2IR, single IR emitter connected to channel 1 and landed directly on IR receiver on Samsung HD TV. I am using iLearn version 2.5.

What works: I can learn IR commands by pressing buttons on my Samsung TV remote while its aimed towards the IP2IR box.

Main issue: If I try to send a learned IR command to the IP2IR box (via iLearn), the IR emitter blinks but the TV doesn't receive the command.

Troubleshooting: I've tried to connecting the IR emitter to different channels and re-sending IR commands (after updating the "Connector" field accordingly. Again, I can get the emitter to blink (which tells me that it is listening to my PC) but the TV does nothing. Note that the TV remote works poperly. It is able to control the TV which tells me that the IR codes that it is sending are correct.

I've also spent 1 hour trying out different learned commands, and experimenting with various iLearn parameters. First of all, some of the parameter names in the iLearn tutorial don't match the corresponding names in my current version of iLearn. This is very confusing. Also, the tutorial does a very poor job at explaining what these parameters do, and if they need to be changed or not. I think I understand the lines & new lines concept, but I don't understand why these are even exposed. The tool should simply line wrap whatever it needs to and forward all the IR lines in the large textbox. Something else that is weird is that sometimes when I send an IR command through iLearn, the large textbox is cleared! I also haven't had any success with the Trim button. Either it clears all the data in the large textbox, or it does nothing. I have no idea what the offset, and ending value parameters do... the tutorial's explanation just confused me more.

  I also tried the IR blaster and experienced the same problems.

  When capturing IR commands, there are two main issues which could cause problems. One is that the signal does not make it to the device's IR receiver. This is usually handled when using a Blaster, or simply determining that the emitter is placed such that it gets the signal into the IR receiver of the device.

  After that, the code itself is to blame. Since you are using the original remote, you are likely not sending the entire command to our unit. The way that you increase the amount of IR data being sent is to increase the "Lines" selector in the top right section of iLearn. By increasing this value (before sending the command), you will highlight more lines of IR data to be sent, which should help to get a response from your device.

  Thanks for the response. Is there any situation where I need to tweak the the "offset" and "ending value parameters"? Or should I leave them at their defaults? Is the Trim feature useful at all?

  The offset is only used for commands which have a preamble which is not repeated, such as a volume command, where the button being held down will ramp the volume at a faster rate than the initial press. A need to alter this is quite rare. The ending value is the amount of time that is used as buffer at the end of the command, and prevents a second command from being interpreted as the end of the first command and allowing your device to properly respond. This setting should not need to be changed, as we have set this to a standard length which prevents scenarios like the one mentioned.

  I have the similar problem. I spend a lot of time to solve it. In my case it was downgrade and use iLearn version 2.4. With 2.5 I can`t do anything. May be this information helps you.

  I can also confirm similar problem and older version of ilearn helped where there are gaps instead of lines. For me the different versions captured the same remote differently!

  Sometimes IR command, stored in iLearn window, spontaneously changes to another one. After that it doesnt work of course.

  Same thing here... It only works with 2.4 iLearn version. Whats wrong with version 2.5?

  Josh... got the same problem. The codes captured on the 2.6 version seems just the same of the 2.5 version. Only the 2.4 still working.

  Just recently purchased the WIFI2IR and now starting to use the iLearn to capture the codes for my other equipments. However, I will be using the Touchsquid(TS) Apps on my android but not sure how I do convert it to TS compliances. I did managed to capture the codes and store it on either Global Cache(GC) and HEX format but the file extension is text(.txt) while the TS is capdev extension. 

  Also, any guide on accessing the GC from 3G/external network is appreciated. I know from the forum that you need to set the port to 4998 but how I really set it.

  I can confirm this is still a problem.  I've tried for days to get iLearn 2.6 to learn and be able to have one captured command to work.  I downloaded the 2.4 version and it worked right away.

  Can confirm that iLearn 2.6 did not work for me when learning my Tivo IR codes. I got a copy of iLearn 2.4 and it worked fine. I find it disturbing that such a fundamental bug in their software is not being corrected which questions Global Cache's resolve to support this product going forward and therefore my willingness to buy more of their devices.

  Same here. I tried two different iTach devices. Neither worked learning a code from a harmony remote. Downgrade to 2.4 and it worked first time.

  I can confirm that on W8.1 Ilearn 2.6 does not show any IR data.

  I can also confirm that you have to select "IR Learner" from the IR Learner Connection drop down. This is not the device I am using.

  well after several trials, i've discovered that version 2.6 doesn't really work, 2.4 is working perfectly, i hope you can solve this problem soon.

  Hello Anna,

  Receiving a completeir,1:2,1 response is normal.  This means that an IR code was sent to module 1, connector 2, with ID 1.  When this code is sent you should see your emitter on port 2 flash briefly.
  
  Also for those of you having issues with iLearn 2.6 please be aware that iLearn 2.7 has been released which addresses the issues found in iLearn 2.5/2.6.

  Hello Anna,

  A quick tip that can fix a lot of IR issues is to increase the repeat count to 3.  Certain brands (most notably Sony) require three repeats to be sent.  To keep this topic on track if you continue to have issues please send us an e-mail directly to support@globalcache.com or open a new forum topic specifically for IR code learning.
