IP2IR Will Not Learn

I am using iLearn on a mac.  It connects fine without any issues.  But I cannot get it to learn anything. No matter what remote I use and point it at the little hole to the right of the power plug nothing gets picked up ever.

Anyone have any issues or a way to detect if it is getting anything I point at it and try to learn a code?

  An easy way to learn IR is to take your unit and stand it up on its end so that the red IR module is pointed upward and sits above the network module. This gives you a clear view into the learning hole and allows you to line up a remote easily. From there, try placing your remote 1-4 inches from the learning hole and pressing a button. You should get a series of numbers in your center window in iLearn, which is the captured command data. Let us know if you continue to have issue getting this working.

  Josh, I've been having the same issue... I can not seem to get ilearn to pickup any button presses. I tried to hold the remote 1-4 inches and I still cant get it to see anything.. Any help you have to offer would be great..

  Have you tried using another remote? It is possible that the remote you are using is low on battery or is for some reason incompatible with the IP2IR learner (very rare). If you continue to have issue learning with further remotes, try to make sure that there isn't any debris inside the learner hole that may be blocking the IR learner. Keep me updated and we can keep moving forward if you continue to have issues.

  I tried two other remotes and I'm still not seeing any button presses. I've tried all different ranges and angles from 1-4 inches, but its still not working. Maybe my unit is defective?

  Same issues here.  Received my WF2IR tonight.  Got it hooked up and it shows up in iHelp.  I've connected iLearn to it.  Just can't get any IR commands to register.

  I ended up sending it back for a new one. Thinking maybe the unit I received was defective.

  I can get mine to register a remote maybe 1 out of 40 attempts. This is very frustrating. I have given up on trying to get this to work. I just think it is the way these work and written it off as bad design. If you think I have a faulty device I'd be happy to exchange and try another one.

  Thanks for the tip, Josh. I did try everything in the online tutorial, but was never able to get any remotes to register a command in iLearn. I tried a Sony blu ray remote, denon avr receiver, and appletv. Fortunately, I realized that I don't need to do this at all since I'm using roomie remote and they already support all of my equipment. I have it working with the Sony and denon, but not appletv yet. Contacting roomie for help. Would be nice to know if I can learn IR commands in case I needed to do this at some point. One last point: mine is actually a WF2IR. It registers in iLearn fine, so I don't think it's the wifi connection.

  More than likely you are having a line of sight sort of issue. You should be able to learn codes with your WF2IR the same way you learn with the IP2IR. If you continue to have issues, feel free to call in at 541-899-4800 and we can do some over-the-phone troubleshooting or we can open a support ticket so that we can do the same thing via email.
