WF2IR Connectivity Issues

I use Roomie Remote with 3 WF2IR units connected to a mixed-mode enabled 802.11n router. All 3 units dropped off the WiFi network yet still show connected via the LED persistent blink pattern of 1Hz. The devices do not show up as connected in the current WiFi IP address table of my router, respond to manual pings, show up in iHelp or respond to a connection request in iTest. A physical power cycle has recovered 2 of the units. I have left one device in the unresponsive state to troubleshoot further.

-Wireless Radio : Enabled

-802.11 Mode : Mixed 802.11n, 802.11g and 802.11b

-Channel Width : 20MHz

-Channel : 7

-WISH : Active

-Wi-Fi Protected Setup : Enabled/Configured

-ENABLED DHCP Reservations for All 3 WF2IR (never expire)

 

3 iTachWF2IR (each unit has the same make/Hw pn/FW ver)

  Update: One of the WF2IR has gone into the LED blink pattern which appears to be a continual reset mode as described by Shawn O'Moore on 4/30/12 in these forums. A restart via removal of power and a hard reset of the unit do nothing to recover the device. I have contacted support.

  Could a failing WF2IR kicked other WF2IR's offline?

  2nd Update: I've now had 2 of the 3 WF2IR units fail. The 2nd unit has been exhibiting intermittent connectivity since I first purchased it. :(

  Regarding the initial question, when the unit stops responding to your commands, are you able to view the unit's embedded web pages from a browser? Have you tried to connect to the units from different locations on the network? Also, is this happening with each unit on the network or just with the units that have eventually began exhibiting the failure symptom?

  To answer your later question: no, a failing unit will not kick another unit off of the network. More than likely the connectivity issue you were seeing was sign of marginal connectivity due to some sort of hardware issue. At some point the marginal functionality became non-functionality and the unit began failing its self test, which is the repeated blinking sequence that you are seeing. Although infant mortality in electronics does happen, we sincerely apologize for the problem this has caused you.
