I am having a problem understanding what equipment I need for my set up. Here is what I have...
A wireless router located in a different room from my home theater. I would like to control all of my AV components using iRule on my iPad (unless someone knows something better).
The components I have:
1. LED TV
2. Apple TV
3. PS3
4. Onkyo Receiver
5. Dish Network Receiver
So can anyone help me determine wha tGlobal Cache hardware I need?

WF2IR, 1x dual emitter but I don't think the PS3 could be controlled since it's bluetooth unless you find a IR to bluetooth converter and add it to your solution.

The Logitech Harmony PS3 adapter is working well for me. Unfortunately, you'll either have to purchase a Harmony 300i remote or wait for me to finish reading the codes. I've programmed 27 of the 51 (52, including PS-hold) codes, and they will be shared in the next week or so.
It sounds as though this has been covered without help. Rather than using a split emitter, you could also use the IR blaster to send IR to multiple devices simultaneously.
I've got a similar setup at my house but the WF2IR does not seem to be a viable solution. I can connect to my wifi network and control some of my IR devices in my test setup in the same room as my router, with the IR Blaster less than a foot away from my devices, but when i move into the next room the WF2IR can no longer connect and wont show up in iHelp.
The only thing i can think is that i should position the unit on the other side of the room closer to the router (On my banister in the hallways at the moment), which gets it to connect, but is too far away for me to connect the IR emitters to my AV devices. What is the range/strength of the IR Blaster, should this work for all of my components from about 15 or so feet away with pretty much direct line of sight? A few of my devices are on shelves inside the console stand but it has glass doors on the front which shouldnt affect anything.
I'm on the fence with this WF2IR, and getting very close to just returning it. The setup is proving too annoying for me right now, can't find a place where both the IR Blaster should be able to reach my components and the WF2IR can connect to my wifi.
My Setup
I'm new to all of this, so do i need to get a separate WF2IR for each room? With its own set of emitters/blaster, or should this be able to control units within a specific range in any direction? Any help or guidnace is appreciate, really wanna get this working with my iPad too, and i dont want to just return it out of frustration.
I'm also hoping im not gonna have to buy a ton of new stuff to extend this beyond the one room.
Likely you will have no problem getting your unit connected and commanding your hardware. If your unit connected, then the proximity to the router should not affect the unit so long as their is wireless signal at the intended location. OK, I will try the WF2IR as well and see what results I get.
I picked up a WF2CC on Amazon. I can connect directly to it and enter my WiFi settings but it will not connect.
I know the setting are correct. I have the B range enabled, am broadcasting the SSID, and have access control turned off. But the router never sees it. I tried moving it right nest to the router but that didn't help. Anything I am missing?
Also, I'm still confused on the IR blaster. Is that necessary or does the WF2CC or WF2IR have that built-in?
Oh, And did i mess up by purchasing he CC rather than the IR? I am just now seeing that is it for connecting "relay activated devices" but am not sure what that means exactly.
Matt is right. It sounds like you do need an IR unit rather than a CC.
k, I ordered the IR and will return the CC. I am thinking about getting e new router. Is there one thatis known to work best with the WF2IR?

OK, got the WF2IR + iRule. I have the WF2IR on the network and connected as a gateway to iRule. I added IR repeaters to the connections. I created a TV set up for a Samsung TV in iRule using the database commands. They commands are not working, however.
I there a known way to troubleshoot the issue? A way to know if the commands are wrong, or the IR repeater isn't reaching the unit, or if the signal never makes it to the WF2IR, etc?

I want to control all of my Hifi and if I understand right I can to that with the WF2IR and the IR blaster, right?
How far away can I place the IR Blaster?
The normal IR Emitter need to be place directly on the front of the equipment? Woldn't look nice because of all the cables, right? Or do I understand something totally wrong?

You are correct that you are able to control all of your devices from a single blaster. Our IR blaster can be placed about 30-50 feet away from the target devices (depending upon IR interference in the room caused by sunlight, fluorescent lights etc.), and should have no problem controlling multiple devices at once, so long as all the IR receivers are visible from the location of the IR blaster.

Quick and perhaps silly question but I can add a few of these devices to my network cant I, i.e. I have all my cable and blueray players etc in one room and then I want to add the ability to change the volume on the TV in a different room that does not have the bluerays etc in it, can I add a second receiver to make sure all functions are working from the same control? thanks
Your setup is definitely doable, requiring that you have an IP2IR unit (or a few) in with your remotely accessed hardware (blue ray players etc) and have some sort of network device like a computer, tablet or smartphone as your control device. This will allow you to send commands over the network to the remotely accessed hardware while being in the room with the TV. Also, you can use another unit to add TV control functionality so as to allow all devices to be controlled by the same control device (tablet, computer etc). Once set up properly, you would likely not need any sort of receiver to confirm that the hardware is receiving the commands, as any problems in the setup would show up during installation and once set up properly, there should be no need for any outside hardware monitoring functionality.
