GC-100 issues

For some reason ir port 1 is constantly active.  I have an ir emitter with an indicator light and it is always illuminated when it is plugged into port 1 but not when it's plugged into ports 2 or 3.  I have ignored this problem for a while since everything seemed to be working.  I recently purchased apple tv and wanted to add volume buttons that control my amp so I got my GC-IRL out and plugged it in and guess what.  Same problem as IR port 1.  The activity light is on constantly so I am not able to learn IR commands.

 

FYI, I'm using bobby on an iphone 4.

  Hi Joe,

  Which product are you using? Based on what unit you are using, this could come from different causes. If this is a GC-100, make sure to configure the port as IR out, rather than BL2 blaster, which will cause the symptom you are explaining.

  On the second matter, are you using the iLearn utility to connect to your IRL? The GC-IRL's indicator LED will turn on when connected to a GC-100, and will blink off when receiving data (but only when a learner utility is connected to the device).

  With a few more details, we can easily get you up and running.

  Oops, forgot to answer your second question.  I am plugging the GC-IRL into the serial port, hitting the button that doesn't have an ir code assigned to it.  When my I phone asks if I would like to learn the code for that button I hit yes and point the OE remote at the IRL and press the desired button and the below pic of a screen shot on my iphone explains the rest.

  I just noticed that the light on ir port2 was illuminated when I took the photo of the GC-100.  Kind of odd considering it was not in use.  I rebooted the GC-100 and tried again when the status light was not illuminated and had the same result.

  Oops, just noticed that my copying and pasting isn't very helpful.  Here are the settings.

   

  Baud rate: 19200

  flow control: none

  parity: no

   

  All ir ports are and have always been set to IR out.  I have also reset the GC-100 twice with the pin 2 and 7 method.

   

  I should also clarify that the screen shot of the iphone was taken right after I hit yes to learn the command.

  Hi Joe,

  I believe the problem you might be having is due to the fact that the GC-IRL operates at 9600 baud rather than 19200. Does the indicator LED stay on even when you are not attempting to communicate with it with the control app? It sounds as though there may be something up with your connector, but without being able to get my hands on it, I can't be sure. If you would like, feel free to call us between 8:00a.m. and 5:00 p.m. pacific, and we can see what we can do to get you up and running properly.

  Changing the baud rate fixed the IRL issue.  As for the ir port I'm OK with that since everything seems to be working good.
