The Flex supports setting a username and password to limit access to the unit's webpages and filesystem as well as limit who can make configuration changes to the device.
The security options for the device are accessed through the web interface on the Security page.
Here is how to set a username and password for a Flex unit:
- If setting up a new device, follow the included Quickstart for initial setup.
- Double click the unit in iHelp, or enter the unit's IP address into your browser to access the configuration pages.
- Navigate to the Security page.
- Enter a User Name and Password (unless using System Lock) and check the desired lock options (described below).
- Click Save.
Lock options:
Web Lock
This lock is checked automatically when entering a username and password. It limits access to the webpages and upload to the filesystem to only users with the user name and password.
API Lock
This lock can be enabled after entering a user name and password. It limits access to making configuration changes to only users with the user name and password.
Note: API Lock disables TCP configuration changes, so only authenticated requests through the HTTP API or from the webpages will be able to change configuration.
System Lock
System Lock disables access to the unit filesystem as well as disabling configuration changes. The only way to remove a System Lock is by performing a factory reset. This option is provided for cases where integrators want to ensure users need physical access to the device to allow configuration changes.
The following table provides a more in-depth mapping of the effects of each lock on configuration and access:
