FAQ: Why don't my IR codes for my Sony devices work?

I am trying to learn the control codes for my Sony hardware, but the codes I learn are not working. What am I doing wrong?

Answer:

Sony IR codes require a repeat of 3 to work.  Repeats can sometimes be set in your control software, however they can also be set in the IR code itself by modifying the repeat field as shown:

The repeat field is the 5th comma separated value after "sendir".  Changing the repeat of a Sony IR code to 3 will resolve most common issues with communicating with Sony IR devices.
